2. Conception of "Eva und Borchert", Emmendingen/Germany, 2004

The Greeny-installation in Emmendingen, the hometown of Yutta Saftien, was an homage to the artist Karl Bobek. In 2004 there was a discussion in town about the sculpture `Eva und Borchert´ from Karl Borchert, which was located in front of the City Hall of Emmendingen. The art collector, who was the owner of the sculpture and gave it to the city as a loan, requested the city-government to buy the sculptur now or to give it back to him. Everybody in town wanted the sculptur to stay where it was, but they couldn´t afford buying it. Thus the office of culture asked some artists to start an art-campain that provokes a discussion about the problem and helps collecting money for the sculpture. Yutta Saftiens contribution to that was Greeny IV. `Growing´ out of the earth in front of the city hall and ranking over `Eva und Borchert´ she made the sculpture be rooted at this place. Many inhabitans of Emmendingen, also the Mayor of the town, came and let the Greeny grow while crocheting at it, expressing their sympathy for the sculpture this way. Unfortunately the art dealer of the collector was very upset about Yutta Saftiens work and told her to remove the Greeny from the sculpture. But Yutta Saftien and the office of culture insisted that the art-statement must keep on growing. Finaly the Greeny grew the whole four weeks of the art-campain at `Eva und Borchert´.
