2. Maschenmuseum Albstadt/Germany, 2005, Greeny Exhibition "Grünstreifen"

In 2005 the director of the Maschenmuseum Albstadt invited Yutta Saftien to install her Greeny objects in the Museum´s 160m² large show-room for special exibitions.
Albstadt is a former aerear of tratidional textile industry in South Germany, especially for knittwear products and so it was a challenge for Yutta Saftien to find out how her textile Greenys, who "naturally" exist in the streets, assert in a Museum.
In the show Yutta Saftien presented the Greeny Actions "Greeny II - Weihnachtsbaum", some Grennys from the serie "Greeny III - Greenys on parking meters","Greeny IV - Answer on Eva and Borchert" together with documentation material as sketches, drawings, fotos and a Greeny III video. Further there were shown new objects as the crochet covered military sleeping-bag called "cocoon", the crochet rank covered bird-cage with a globe inside and an exit blocking board with the instruction: "leave the exit open".
Additionally the visitors of the exhibition could crochet by themselves at an object called "chaos and order", which was composed of a bar, covered with green crochet ranks, hangeing from the ceiling, with a balloon at each side: One stood for "chaos", the other for "order". Depending on the crocheting of the visitors either the "order"or the "chaos" side became more weight and had to sink.
Finally the "order" was down and the "chaos" up.
To visualize time, the fourth dimension in her work, Yutta Saftien developed "one day":
Imagine you crochet each second of one day one mesh, which is 0,5 cm long each. Finally, after 24 hours, you´ll get a 432 meter long row of meshes.
Yutta Saftien crocheted this row, called "one day", installed it along the walls of the Maschenmuseum, beginning at the entrance, climbing up the walls of the staircase, ranking along the walls of the show-room.additionally she marked the line with fotos and notes about situations and actions of one normal day in her life.

Many visitors of the exhibition were irritated, because what they found was not what they expected to see in the Maschenmuseum. Some reacted angry, some people were laughing, most of them left open minded for a contemporary use of an old technique.
